Well the CEG Nov 6th launch was a great success. We had a great turnout with several new faces and a couple of guests from NCR. The weather turned out to be real nice with little to no surface wind and somewhat clear skies with some very high overcast clouds. Up higher however where some stronger winds. The temperature was in the mid 60's and just was a great day to fly in November.
With all the people that showed up we had 11 flights. There where a one "G" two "H's" , one "I" one "K" an "L" and an "O" for the solids department and some Hybrid motors in various ranges as well. Most of the flights were successful with a couple of cato's on the hybrids.
I was only able to capture a couple of videos because my camera was being finicky and I was busy running the range and helping others out. Ken's SAT V III was loaded up with his AN "L" motor. The rocket was modified for a digital camera and we did get some great footage from the flight. Check it out in the video section. I was able to John's rocket on Super Polish Rojo formula for a great boost. The biggest motor was James Wimpy Red "O" in a rocket from a group down in the springs. Is was the only rocket still to be found as they pushed the main out at apogee. Remember I said the up higher. The rocket seemed to just hang in the sky as it drifted further and further away.
I had the only static test which was my Tiger Tail Hot formula. I was looking for a high K but did not quite reach the numbers I was looking for. I had five 3 inch 54mm grains that put out about 250 lbs of thrust for 1.46 seconds at a case pressure just under 800 psi. That worked out to be about a K1400 so it was not too bad. It will fly just fine.
Well that is it for the CEG flying season this year. I think as more people are expanding into Ex we will see more people at the Ex launches. Thanks to all who came out to help make this a great successful launch. Also thanks to NCR and their board members for their willingness to help out and share the site and waiver. I can't wait till next year.
